## Kindergarten and preschool funding explained

Families around Australia can benefit from state government funded kindergarten and preschool subsidies to further reduce their out-of-pocket costs. This subsidy is currently available in New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria, in addition to the [childcare subsidy](https://www.pelicanschildcare.com/childcare-subsidy) your family is eligible for, which is available nationwide depending on your family’s individual eligibility.

Plus, in some states, families can benefit from two years of government-funded kindergarten and preschool programs for eligible 3-year-old and 4-year-old children.

At Pelicans centres that offer government-funded programs, our families enjoy the convenience and peace of mind of incorporating kindergarten into a long daycare service. This means you can benefit from 9, 10, 11, or full-day sessions, and your daily fee may be reduced by the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) plus the funded kindergarten subsidy in your state.

## Queensland - “Free Kindy”

The Queensland Government’s funded kindergarten program is called “Free Kindy.” This program provides 15 hours per week of government-approved kindergarten education for 40 weeks per year.
